Wellhead Protection

Wellhead ProtectionOverview

Source water protection programs in Nevada are initiated and implemented at local levels and depend on the willingness of a community to support the local program. Clean, healthy drinking water is something many of us take for granted, but as our area grows, ground water pollution can become a serious problem and can threaten the health of our community.

On August 6, 2009, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners approved participation in the State of Nevada Integrated Source Water Protection Program. This voluntary program was undertaken to prevent the pollution of community drinking water sources.
