Board of County Commissioners Approves Contract for New Douglas County Manager

Minden, NV During its meeting on June 15, 2023, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners approved a contract for Jenifer Davidson to serve as the County’s new County Manager. Davidson has served as Interim County Manager since June 6 and previously served as Assistant County Manager since April 2018.

At the June 1, 2023 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the Board reviewed the qualifications and interviewed the applicants for the position of County Manager. The Board voted to have County staff enter into negotiations with Davidson and to create a proposed Employment Contract for consideration.

“I am thrilled that the County is moving forward under Mrs. Davidson’s leadership,” said Board Chairman Mark Gardner. “I look forward to seeing how her years of experience—coupled with bringing new ideas to the table—will be implemented, and I know she will bring incredible value to our community as County Manager.”

Davidson has nearly 16 years of experience in local government, with a background in public administration, as well as organizational leadership and development. She has worked in Douglas County for much of her career, serving as the Minden Town Manager from 2011 to 2018.

"I value the trust and confidence the Commission has in my ability, and I am honored to have been selected to carry out their vision for our community," Davidson said. "Every day, I am inspired by the skilled and dedicated professionals we have working to provide critical services on behalf of the organization. I am excited to continue to work with our outstanding leadership team to tackle the short- and long-range strategic priorities of the Commission, Douglas County businesses, and residents.”

Jenifer grew up in Douglas County and is a graduate of Douglas High School. She attended Boise State University where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Law and Political Philosophy. Most recently, she completed her Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning from The George Washington University in January 2023.

In 2007, Jenifer met her husband Ryan when she moved back to Douglas County from Boise after completing her college degree. Ryan is an active duty service member of the Nevada Army National Guard. Together, they are raising one very active three-year-old daughter. They enjoy spending time outdoors as a family as often as possible.

The County Manager is responsible for the general administration of all county service areas and agencies under the guidance of the Board of Commissioners. The County Manager implements the goals and policies of the Board of Commissioners and advises Commissioners on financial matters, services, and other issues.
