Douglas County Honors Judge Jones

Minden, NV-Today, Chairman Mark Gardner of the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners released the following statement on the passing of East Fork Justice Court Justice of the Peace, Judge Cassandra Jones:

“Douglas County is heartbroken over the passing of East Fork Justice Court Justice of the Peace, Judge Cassandra Jones. Judge Jones was elected Justice of the Peace in 2018 and holds the distinction of serving as the first female judge in Douglas County. She dedicated her life to public service and the residents of her community and received many awards over the course of her career in recognition of her efforts.  She was an advocate for the most vulnerable members of our population and served in a variety of capacities over the course of her career including as a law clerk for Douglas County District Court Judge, Judge Gibbons, now Chief Justice of the Nevada Court of Appeals, for ten years and an elected member of the Gardnerville Town Board from 2014-2018. She also served as a member of the board for Austin’s House since 2014, and the Community Foundation of Douglas County since 2018.  We send our sincere condolences and prayers to her family and the East Fork Justice Court team members during this very difficult time. The County Manager has ordered the flags at Douglas County Public facilities to be lowered to half-mast through Friday, July 15, 2022 in recognition of Judge Jones’ years of dedicated service.”
