Outdoor Adventure Challenge Program
Outdoor Adventure Challenge (OAC) is for students that have completed 5th Grade but have not yet completed 12th Grade. OAC provides pre-teens and teens with fun and safe outdoor activities. Through OAC, young people will be exposed to the multitude of benefits that outdoor recreation offers. it is our hope that OAC will help encourage participants to begin or continue living active lifestyles as they get outdoors. Participants will gain confidence and appreciation for the outdoors as they learn new or enhance existing outdoor skills and knowledge.
We offer a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities that include day hikes, flat water kayaking, backpacking, archery, snow shoeing, ice fishing and indoor rock climbing at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. Participants will learn a variety of outdoor skills as well as various concepts about stewardship like low impact camping and Leave No Trace.
