DART TOPAZ ROUTE TRANSIT PLAN
Purpose of Proposed Route
DART is adding a new route to serve the residents of Topaz Ranch Estates. This route enhances access to essential services and community resources, including healthcare facilities, shopping centers, parks, community outreach locations, and the Douglas County Community and Senior Center. It will also help connect residents to surrounding transit opportunities, providing access to locations beyond DART’s service area. By expanding transit options, the department aims to better serve the community, improve mobility, and ensure residents can travel safely and conveniently to meet their daily needs.
Identified Need
Currently, there is a gap in service that limits access for the Topaz community in South Douglas County to essential services, employment, and community resources. This plan addresses that gap by expanding transit service to connect this underserved area with the rest of the county.
Funding Source
The Topaz Route Transit Plan will be supported by a combination of NDOT and FTA grants, advertising sponsorships, a county match contribution, and fare revenue. This funding blend will provide a stable financial foundation to support the project’s success and ongoing operation.
