MINDEN, NV – Douglas County is pleased to announce the hiring of Kathy Lewis for the position of Chief Financial Officer. Kathy will be re-joining the Douglas County team from East Fork Fire Protection District. The Chief Financial Officer serves as the County Auditor and Comptroller pursuant to Chapter 251 of the Nevada Revised Statutes. This role is responsible for the proper administration of the financial affairs of the County.

We are fortunate to have Kathy to lead our financial team and help us make sound financial decisions for the betterment of our community."
Kathy started her career in finance and accounting after graduating from Weber State University, where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, both in Accounting. After relocating to Nevada with her family, she achieved and has maintained her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. Kathy’s accounting career in Nevada began with the State of Nevada, Division of Welfare, and Division of Internal Audits, serving as an Internal Auditor, then with the Housing Division as the Chief Accountant. In 2002, Kathy accepted a position with Douglas County’s Finance Division where she worked for 12 years as an Internal Auditor, Transient Occupancy Tax Auditor, Grants Accountant, and Budget Manager.
In February 2015, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners unanimously appointed Kathy to the vacant Clerk/Treasurer position. Kathy served as the Clerk/Treasurer until December 2020, when she took her current position as Director of Finance/CFO for East Fork Fire Protection District.

Terri Willoughy, current Chief Financial Officer, who has served in her role since October 2018, will continue with the County until she retires, effective January 2024, to assist with the transition of this new appointment.
