Douglas County Officials Announce Delayed Openings or Closures Due to Winter Storm WarningMinden, NV- A Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service Reno, NV for the Greater Lake Tahoe and Minden/Gardnerville area. The warning is in effect from 5 p.m. Monday, December 13, through 10 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Due to the potential of significant snow and high winds creating hazardous road conditions Douglas County officials have closed the following Lake Tahoe offices for Tuesday, December 14, 2021:
• Kahle Community Center (Closed beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, December 13th)
• Douglas County Lake Tahoe Library Branch
• Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Lake Tahoe Branch
• Tahoe General Services

Tahoe Justice Court is keeping regular scheduled hours.

For the safety of staff and the public all Douglas County Valley offices will be on a 1-hour delay in opening on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. At this time, Valley offices will open at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. This delay will allow time for plows to keep up with current conditions should they need it, while also keeping our employees and the public safe during their morning commutes.

East Fork Justice Court and the 9th Judicial District Court will keep regular scheduled hours.

Emergency services and the Road Department will continue to operate. Douglas County has a snow removal policy which determines how and when County roads are plowed. The County works in partnership with the Nevada Department of Transportation, Towns of Gardnerville, Genoa and Minden, and various General Improvement Districts to provide snow removal service around the area. The policy states crews will be sent out at 4 inches of accumulated snow on the roads. For more information on snow removal, please call the Douglas County Public Works Department at (775) 782-9035.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office urges everyone to allow extra time on the roadway’s tomorrow morning in the likely event of snow and slick road conditions.
