Minden, NV – Douglas County is proud to announce that Kathy Lewis has been selected for the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) position with Douglas County. Lewis transitions into this critical leadership role after years of dedicated service in public finance and management, most recently as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Douglas County Finance department. Her extensive experience, coupled with her commitment to excellence, positions her to effectively lead the County’s internal operations and advance its strategic vision.
The Chief Operating Officer is a newly created position with the Douglas County Manager’s Office aimed at enhancing organizational functioning, efficiency, and effectiveness. In this role, Lewis will oversee internal service departments including Human Resources, Finance, Technology Services, and Emergency Management. Additionally, she will assist the County Manager and Board of County Commissioners with organizational development, long-term fiscal planning, stakeholder and public engagement, process improvement, and the enhancement of public services.

Lewis began her career in finance and accounting after earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Weber State University. She has maintained her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and has served in various key financial and administrative roles for the State of Nevada, East Fork Fire Protection District, and Douglas County. Her tenure in Douglas County includes positions as CFO, Internal Auditor, Grants Accountant, Budget Manager, and Clerk/Treasurer.
