Vail Resorts Epicpromise Community Grant Supports Douglas County Community Services Foundation and Douglas County's Youth and Teens

The Douglas County Community Services Foundation (the Foundation) and Incredible Kids Scholarship Program were honored to again receive a grant from Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN), EpicPromise Community Grant program. The grant supports a partnership between Douglas County Community Services and the Foundation that provides youth and teen scholarships at the Douglas County Kahle Community Center in the Stateline portion of the County and the valley Community and Senior Center located in Gardnerville. The goal of Douglas County Community Services and the Foundation is to provide an opportunity for every youth in the county to engage in healthy living, learning and experiences.

The grant provided $10,000 in in-kind gifts to the Foundation’s Silent Auction Christmas Fundraiser. The gifts include ski vacations at any Vail resort in the world, gondola rides, annual ski passes, day passes, summer passes and more.

The Foundation’s Silent Christmas Auction was tremendously successful. The online auction garnered bids from across the country and locally from avid adventurers, skiers, and explorers who bid on the high-end items. The auction brought in more than $25,000 for the Foundation and the Incredible Kids Scholarship Program. 

Douglas County Director of Community Services, Scott Morgan said, “Our goal is to create opportunities for youth and teens to get fit while having fun and to make these opportunities affordable for all to enjoy. The Vail EpicPromise Community Grant provided the annual online auction with a tremendous opportunity to raise funds and support that means so much to the community and Douglas County.”

Foundation Chairwoman Renea Louie shared, “The Douglas County Community Services Foundation and the Douglas County Community Services Department are extremely grateful to again be a selected recipient of the Vail Heavenly EpicPromise Community Grant Program. Their generous support for the Foundation’s annual fundraising event which supports many programs and needed equipment as well as youth and teen gym membership scholarship programs and more, which will keep our youth and teens back in the centers’ activities and events.” She went on to say, “We are thrilled to partner with a world class company that has the same passion for community and excitement for adventure and fitness.”

About the Douglas County Community and Senior Center and Foundation

The valley center, opened December 6, 2014, is at the heart of Gardnerville, Nevada and is not just a community center but the center of the community.  

Seniors, adults and youth, are all welcome and can find numerous activities and offerings at the center. Thousands of citizens use the centers each week. The Douglas County Community Services Foundation was formed in 2011 to support the community centers and senior centers in Douglas County, both Lake, Valley and South County. The Foundation’s main emphasis is to support the construction and ongoing capital and equipment needs of the of the Carson Valley Community and Senior Center, Kahle Community Center and the Topaz Ranch Estates Neighborhood Center in South County. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(C)(3) corporation intended to make improvements to the community and senior center as easily and efficiently as possible with the maximum amount of accountability. The Foundation acts as a liaison between the government of Douglas County and private donors to maximize and meet the private donor's needs.
