Evacuations
Returning Home After Tamarack Fire - Safety Precautions
Mental Health and Fire Recovery
Voluntary evacuations have been lifted for all residents in: Topaz Ranch Estates, Topaz Lake areas, Spring Valley, and Holbrook areas. Residents are allowed to return to their homes.
Both evacuation centers are closed. If you or your family were affected by the fire and need additional assistance, please call 1-800-REDCROSS. Douglas County is continuing to provide resources to residents. Click here to view on online list.

Douglas County can only strongly recommend a voluntary evacuation; mandatory evacuations can only be issued by the governor in the state of Nevada. Although we can not make you leave your home, when dangerous fire conditions have potentially placed your home in the path of fire, we will send you an emergency alert to your phone. Fire conditions can be erratic and can change quickly. Should you feel unsafe, please leave your home. Do not wait for someone to come to your home to tell you to leave.

Damage Assessment Douglas County is currently conducting preliminary exterior damage assessments of structures including homes, outbuildings, wellhouses and barns in the areas where fire activity has been observed.
A preliminary survey of the area south of Leviathan Mine Road determined that 13 structures have been damaged or lost. During this first phase of damage assessments, teams consisting of Douglas County Building Inspectors and East Fork Fire Protection District will work with the County's GIS department to verify which structures and areas have been impacted and to notify property owners as soon as possible. To view more information of the initial damage survey conducted by East Fork Fire, click here.

How do I find out if my house or business burned down? Douglas County has assembled multiple teams consisting of Building Inspectors and members of the East Fork Fire Department that are on standby ready to assess the damage from the fire, once it is safe for them to go into the area. Once the damage assessments have been completed, if it is determined that a structure has been impacted, notification will be made by the Damage Assessment Team to the property owner.
