Douglas County Launches Third Season of Warrior Way Paid Parking Program at Zephyr Cove

Zephyr Cove, NV – Douglas County Community Services is pleased to announce the launch of the third season of the Warrior Way Paid Parking Program at Zephyr Cove. The program begins Memorial Day Weekend and will operate on Saturdays and Sundays through June 11, 2026. Beginning June 12, paid parking rates will apply daily throughout the summer season. Once school resumes in the fall, the program will return to weekend-only paid parking, with weekdays remaining free.

The Warrior Way Paid Parking Program continues to serve as a collaborative partnership between Douglas County, the Douglas County School District, and the Whittell Boosters Club, Inc., helping balance visitor access with public safety, environmental protection, and direct community benefit.

In recognition of Earth Day, Douglas County Community Services recently presented participating parent groups with their portion of revenue generated through the 2025 Warrior Way Paid Parking Program. Funds were distributed to the Whittell Boosters Club, Inc., with support from Zephyr Cove Elementary and Whittell High School students, who participated in a cleanup effort in the Zephyr Cove area. Their involvement reflects the shared commitment to maintaining and preserving this important community resource.

“Warrior Way has become more than a parking program,” said Brook Adie, Douglas County Community Services Director. “It is a collaborative effort that helps protect one of our most heavily visited recreation areas while generating meaningful support for local students, schools, and our parks system.”

The paid parking program was established to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, support sanitation efforts, preserve emergency access, and enhance the visitor experience throughout the Zephyr Cove corridor. Net proceeds generated through the program directly support the Douglas County School District, Whittell Boosters Club, Inc., and Douglas County Parks, helping fund student programs, recreational opportunities, and community improvements.

In partnership with the Douglas County School District, and utilizing property owned by both entities, the Warrior Way Paid Parking Program creates a practical solution that benefits both residents and visitors while reinvesting revenue back into the community.
