Douglas County Parks Receives Nearly $67,000 from Carson Valley Little League for Shade Structures at Aspen Park

Gardnerville, NVDouglas County Parks has announced that Carson Valley Little League has donated $66,991.10 to help fund the installation of much-needed shade structures at Aspen Park in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

The donation represents more than five years of fundraising efforts by Carson Valley Little League families and supporters. While players traditionally raised money through raffle ticket sales, recent fundraising efforts transitioned to virtual donations and end-of-season hit-a-thon events, helping the league steadily work toward its goal.

The planned shade structures will provide critical relief for spectators at Aspen Park, where weather conditions can vary dramatically throughout the season, from intense sun to rain and sleet.

“This project is a great example of what can happen when a community rallies together around its youth programs,” said Brooke Adie, Director of Community Services with Douglas County. “These shade structures will improve the experience for countless families who spend long days at Aspen Park, and we are incredibly grateful to Carson Valley Little League and everyone who contributed to making this possible.”

Carson Valley Little League President, Janelle Hoover, said the donation reflects years of commitment from volunteers, families, and players determined to make a lasting impact on the community.

“For years, our players and families have worked to raise funds that would directly benefit the kids and families who use these fields every season,” said Hoover. “Aspen Park is one of the busiest youth sports complexes in our community, and adding shade structures will make a tremendous difference for everyone who spends time there.”

Construction timelines and additional project details will be announced by Douglas County as they become available.
