Douglas Area Rural Transit (DART) is pleased to announce the launch of its new South County Fixed Route service, which officially began operating today, July 1, 2026.
To celebrate the expansion of public transportation in South Douglas County, Douglas County Community Services hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 29 at the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Center. Community members, local partners, and County representatives gathered to mark the addition of this important new transportation option for South County residents.
The new South County Fixed Route provides reliable weekday transportation between Topaz Ranch Estates and Gardnerville, improving access to medical appointments, shopping, employment opportunities, community resources, and connections to additional transit services serving destinations beyond Douglas County.
The route operates Monday through Friday and offers multiple trips each day, providing residents with a dependable and convenient transportation option.
"The launch of the South County Fixed Route reflects DART's ongoing commitment to expanding transportation options and improving mobility for residents throughout Douglas County," said DART Supervisor Liz Begovich. "This new service will help connect South County residents to essential services, employment, healthcare, and regional transit connections."
