Douglas County, NV – Douglas County is pleased to announce the successful implementation of a new parking program at its beaches during the 4th of July holiday. This year, approximately 250 cars were parked, a significant reduction from the 800 to 900 cars seen in previous years. This change has led to a notable decrease in overcrowding and an enhanced overall user experience.
With a parking fee of $100 per car, the estimated revenue ranges between $20,000 and $23,000. It is important to note that Douglas County residents were exempt from this fee. The reduction in vehicle numbers contributed to improved sanitation efforts, further elevating the beach experience for visitors.
“We are very pleased with the initial results of our new parking program,” said Scott Morgan, Assistant County Manager. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are committed to conducting a final assessment over the weekend to identify any areas for further improvement.”
Additionally, on July 4th, 23 cars were ticketed and towed, marking the most successful parking compliance initiative in Douglas County’s history. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of the proactive measures taken by the county.
