The Stormwater Task Force will serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners and provide a collaborative forum to review, evaluate, and develop recommendations regarding the proposed Douglas County Stormwater Utility and associated funding framework. The Task Force will work alongside County staff and technical consultants to examine long-term stormwater infrastructure needs, funding options, governance, accountability measures, and alternative approaches that reflect community concerns and priorities.
Douglas County strongly encourages interested individuals to complete the application online. Online applications are preferred because they allow applicants to provide more detailed responses and ensure information is submitted efficiently. Paper applications will also be available and may be completed in person at the Douglas County Manager’s Office.
Applicants are encouraged to answer all questions thoroughly and provide as much information as possible regarding their background, experience, interests, geographic area, property type, and reasons for wanting to serve. Detailed applications will assist the Board in establishing a Task Force that reflects the diversity of Douglas County and includes a broad range of perspectives and expertise.
The County anticipates a Task Force comprised of individuals representing a broad cross-section of the community, including residential property owners, agricultural interests, business and commercial property owners, and members of the building community. In making appointments, the Board will consider factors such as geographic diversity, a variety of parcel types and sizes, relevant technical or professional expertise, demonstrated interest in community issues, and an ability to participate collaboratively and constructively.
The Task Force will operate under Nevada’s Open Meeting Law, with meetings open to the public and held approximately twice monthly over a three- to six-month period. Members will review current stormwater operations and funding needs, evaluate alternative approaches, consider governance and transparency measures, and ultimately provide recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
The Board of County Commissioners is expected to discuss the application process and provide additional direction during its July 16, 2026, meeting, when appointments to the Task Force may also be considered.
The County recognizes the importance of affordability, equity, accountability, and meaningful public participation in the development of any long-term stormwater funding strategy. The Stormwater Task Force is intended to create an open and transparent process that brings together residents, stakeholders, and technical experts to help identify a sustainable and publicly supported path forward.
