Douglas County Officials Announce Closure of All County Offices on Monday, December 27, 2021

Minden, Nev.- For the safety of staff and the public, Douglas County Officials announce the closure of all County offices and buildings on Monday, December 27, 2021 due to the winter storm conditions and potential increase to already significant snowfall.
A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), Reno, NV for the Greater Lake Tahoe/Minden/Gardnerville/Carson City Area. According to the Special Weather Statement from the NWS, Reno, the area can expect gusting winds, cold temperatures, and additional snow accumulations through 1am Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
Douglas County Manager Patrick Cates in consultation with Sheriff Coverley will continue to monitor the situation and follow safety advice from the Nevada Department of Transportation. The safety of our employees and the public are a top priority.

Emergency services and the Road Department will continue to operate. Douglas County has a snow removal policy which determines how and when County roads are plowed. The County works in partnership with the Nevada Department of Transportation, Towns of Gardnerville, Genoa and Minden, and various General Improvement Districts to provide snow removal service around the area. The policy states crews will be sent out at 4 inches of accumulated snow on the roads. For more information on snow removal, please call the Douglas County Public Works Department at (775) 782-9035.
